I received my Bachelors of Science in Human Biology from the University of California at San Diego and am currently employed* as a graduate student at UCSC, where I work alongside other scientists to investigate current questions in neuroscience while pursuing my PhD.
I am, and always have been, a curious and passionate explorer of the world. I am driven by a natural desire to spend my time learning as much as possible about the universe. I believe strongly in facilitating effective science communication to the public, promoting rationalism and critical thinking, as well as working to remind adults that curiosity and imagination are not just toys for children.
Like many other scientists I find it hard to summarize the endless wonder I find in the complexity of nature. I will always welcome rational criticism, I will always be glad to explore any question I can, and I will always strive to point out when I find myself struggling with a topic that is beyond my experience. I hope that my writings here will help to bring some of that wonder to others.
Sincerely,
Matthew Jacobs
